FOUNDER STORYParking Spotz began with a simple real-world problem: people kept parking in our founder’s parking spot.
Instead of accepting it, Angelique Mentis — international corporate lawyer turned property developer and entrepreneur — built a solution. That solution became That’s My Spot, now Australia’s leading supplier of surface-mounted parking bollards.
Solving that problem uncovered a bigger one: underground car parks were still digital dead zones — no connectivity, no automation, no visibility. This created daily inefficiencies for building owners, managers, tenants and visitors.
Recognising this gap, Angelique set out to build a smarter, scalable platform for modern buildings and smart cities. The result is Parking Spotz — a complete smart-parking system combining IoT hardware, proprietary underground communications, real-time automation and data-driven control for strata, commercial offices, retail, mixed-use sites, EV charging and transport hubs.

As former Chair of Parking Australia, she led a cultural shift across the national industry body, around innovation, digital transformation, customer experience, sustainability and the role of parking in smart-city infrastructure.
